One-day Tour

Visitors who are only for a single day in Tortuguero Village can do the following activities.

Activity # 1 Canoe Tour

Explore the deepest parts of Tortuguero National Park in a local canoe style along with your native tour guide. Navigate the stretch, small and narrow creeks and channels in the park only being accesible by small watercraft. Share with the local guide all the knowledge about the flora and fauna located in the national. Enjoy close views of caimans, crocodiles, iguanas, lizard, monkeys, herons, toucans, sloths, otters, snakes, anhingas, tapirs, jaguars and much more.

The Activity

We start by meeting you in your hotel or in our meeting location in the main boat area in Tortuguero Village. We get ready by setting up all the necessary gear to visit the national park including the life jackets, paddles, seats, bags and your personal belongings. After getting on board the canoe we leave the village to head for the National Park Office where we are going to register your tickets. After all this process we head to the park channels, rivers and creek searching and observing each one of the animals we find on the way and also all the nature in the surrounding. As we enter the park we will find smaller and narrower sections where only canoes or kayak can enter and enjoy of the tranquility and quietness the park offers. After 2.30 hrs we finish the activity returning and trying to search for more animals and things to share on the way back.

Activity # 2 National Park Jaguar Trail Hike

Hike different ground sectors of Tortuguero National Park with native tour guide. Walk into the tropical humid forest and observe iguanas, lizard, monkeys, toucans, sloths, snakes, tapirs, jaguars and much more. The Jaguar trail is located along the park coastline and we will finish the hike in the national park beach where thousands of green sea turtles come to nest each year.

The Activity

We start by meeting you in your hotel or in our meeting location in the main boat area in Tortuguero Village. We get ready by setting up all the necessary gear to visit the national park jaguar trail, this includes the hiking boots, binoculars, sun and skin protection and water among other personal belongings. Then we head to the national park office where we will register our tickets and then move to the jaguar trail. We will search for all wildlife in the trails including large mammals and small insects, lizards, frogs, Racoons, armadillos, sloths, basilisks, frogs, possums, snakes, porcupine, tepezcuintle, pacas

and much more of the surrounding biodiversity. After. 2 hrs we will come back to the Tortuguero Village main area or your hotel is necessary.

Activity # 3 Tortuguero Hill Hike

Visit and hike and extinct volcano located in the National Refuge. Hike the trail and observe all the wildlife in the area such as monkeys, frogs, snakes, toucans, sloth, plants and more. We walked along the path of the Hill looking for animals and talking about plants. It has steps to facilitate the ascent and descent. Then a short pass through the town of San Francisco, Tortuguero.

The Activity

We start from your hotel or meeting location in the Tortuguero Main Boat area. Then we move in the boat transportation to the village of San Francisco where we can walk and take a look at the native people lifestyle and continue our way to the Tortuguero Hill. We walk the local native trails until we reach the top which is located at 120 mts high. After the hike we return in the boat transportation to Tortuguero Village or your hotel.
